When hiring actors in São Paulo, here are the basic work time rules according to the union SATED/SP:

• Standard Workday:

  • Adults: 8 hours (including meal breaks) 

  • Children/adolescents/elderly: 6 hours max.

• Overtime Rules:

  • First 2 extra hours: +50% pay 

  • Beyond 2 hours: +100% pay 

  • Max 4 overtime hours/day 

  • Night work (10PM-5AM): +30% premium 

• Rest Periods:

  • Mandatory 12-hour rest between workdays (measured from arrival at home) 

• Work Hour Calculation:

  • Includes all on-set time (arrival to departure.)

  • Covers rehearsals, makeup, recordings, etc. 

  • Commute >60 minutes counts as work time 

• Travel Rules:

  • When traveling: workday starts at hotel departure.

  • Travel days: Excess commute (>60 mins) counts as work.
